A few news items this time around: I made a new free instrument, and also I'm scoring a huge new video game and I can finally talk about it.

AURAS:VOLTS

Getting right into the good stuff, my new instrument auras:volts has arrived, and as usual it's all wrapped up for the free Decent Sampler platform.

This library was created at Knobcon outside of Chicago, Illinois - I recorded the sounds live from the event floor over the course of two days and sourced it all from over $200,000 worth of equipment which was insane to have access to. I was able to capture so many different interesting tones and timbres, and I'm beyond pleased with how the final library turned out.

As with my first AURAS release, this library features a clear and simple UI with dynamic velocity response and CC1 and CC11 controls for Dynamics and Expression as you'd find in most premium libraries providing a realistic and expressive sound package of 33 different presets with a hand-picked A/B layering system alongside the filter and effects.

This library is also highly optimized, giving you the entire multisample library in under 200mb for big ol' sounds in a little bitty package.

The gear list is pretty insane and I wasn't able to get pictures of it all because I was both sampling and filming a video all at the same time (by myself, because I'm an idiot and didn't hire a cameraperson), but here's a couple stills from a video I'm working on of what was captured in the project.

I'm Scoring A New Game From Obsidian & Microsoft

I am crazy excited to be able to finally talk about this but the reason I've been a little quiet this year is I've spent the last ~8 months working on the soundtrack for Avowed.

This is a new game from Obsidian (who are also responsible for one of my favorite games ever, Fallout: New Vegas) set in the Pillars of Eternity world of Eora and I've been cooking away on hours worth of music to bring the Living Lands to life.

The game will also be getting a soundtrack release, and I think I'll even be making a deep-dive course where I'll be taking you through the making of the entire soundtrack from start to finish. I don't have many details on this for now, and most things are still very much under NDA but I am SO EXCITED to share the score with everyone because I think it's one of the best projects/albums I've ever made. Doesn't hurt that I've been basically pouring every ounce of my life into it for the last 8 months either haha.

Back Again Soon

Long story short, with the soundtrack for Avowed in the final phases things are super crunch-time for me for the next little while and I won't really be too active on YouTube or elsewhere until that's more wrapped up and done.

I have several new videos from my road trip in September that I do plan to release, but there have been a few complications with it that make them a little tricky to get out and of course I also need to finish developing the other free instruments that are attached to that project.

In the meantime though, if all else I hope to hit y'all with a Christmas/end of the year surprise...details soon!
